WANdisco launches professional uberSVN platform support

Professional support provides added confidence for development teams using groundbreaking free open ALM platform

WANdisco, the leading provider of Apache Subversion-based software and services for the enterprise, today announced the availability of professional support services for its groundbreaking new open ALM platform, uberSVN.

Launched in April of this year, uberSVN is available for free download. uberSVN combines the first-ever social coding environment for Subversion with a rich set of repository and user management capabilities on an open, easy to extend platform. Thousands have already downloaded uberSVN to take advantage of these features and the freedom to choose the combination of software development tools that best fit their business requirements.

Now WANdisco’s renowned professional support services for Subversion have been expanded to include support for uberSVN, to meet the needs of large development organizations that want to use open source software, but require the security provided by a commercial software support contract.

David Richards, CEO and President of WANdisco, said: “Our professional support services have become the first choice for development organizations that have some of the world’s largest Subversion deployments. We are delighted to expand these services to include uberSVN. Development teams that have started using uberSVN are already seeing significant benefits. The availability of professional support for uberSVN will give them added confidence.”

By combining the uberSVN platform with professional support services that include guaranteed response times, 24-by-7 access to online and phone support, automated delivery of the latest fixes and upgrades and other benefits that normally come with commercial software support contracts, WANdisco's customers achieve complete peace of mind.

uberSVN platform support covers the following components:

  • The latest, fully tested release of Apache Subversion, including the latest fixes.
  • uberSVN’s pre-configured Apache web server.
  • Access control.
  • Administration console.
  • Subversion’s first-ever social coding environment.

In addition to these features, professional support will soon be available for the build server, defect tracker and wiki bolt-ons for the uberSVN platform.

About Subversion

Apache Subversion (SVN) is a version control system initiated in 2000. It is used to maintain current and historical versions of files such as source code, web pages, and documentation. Its goal is to be a mostly-compatible successor to the widely used Concurrent Versions System (CVS). In a 2007 report by Forrester Research, Subversion was recognized as the sole leader in the Standalone Software Configuration Management (SCM) category and a strong performer in the Software Configuration and Change Management (SCCM) category. Subversion is released under the Apache License, making it free software. For more information, please visit:
