WANdisco, the leading provider of Apache Subversion-based software and services for the enterprise, and a major corporate sponsor of the Subversion project, has announced that the latest release, Subversion 1.7.4, is now available to download for free from, and also through the free, open ALM platform, uberSVN.

Apache Subversion 1.7 was a major release for the Subversion community, and every subsequent release has brought even more fixes and improvements for Subversion’s ever-growing community of users. Subversion 1.7.4 improves the FSFS sanity-check error message, and features a list of bug fixes, including:

  • a fix for the missing ‘Merged via’ notifications that occurred randomly in ‘svn log -g’
  • a fix for the regressions with symlinks pointing at externals
  • a fix for the 'svn log --diff' output ordering issue on Windows

The fill list of what’s new and noteworthy in Apache Subversion 1.7.4, is available in the Changes file. The latest, certified open source binaries are available from the WANdisco website. Apache Subversion 1.7.4 is also available through the free uberSVN platform for Apache Subversion.

“This has been a great six months for the Apache Subversion community,” said Ian Wild, WANdisco’s Director of Engineering. “The 1.7 release was a massive leap forward for the Subversion community, and with every subsequent release, the 1.7 series just gets better and better. WANdisco is proud to be able to say we’re actively engaged with one of the world’s most successful, long-standing open source projects.”

As part of its commitment to the Subversion community, WANdisco has also announced a program of free training webinars for 2012.

About Subversion

Apache Subversion (SVN) is a version control system initiated in 2000. It is used to maintain current and historical versions of files such as source code, web pages, and documentation. Its goal is to be a mostly-compatible successor to the widely used Concurrent Versions System (CVS). In a 2007 report by Forrester Research, Subversion was recognized as the sole leader in the Standalone Software Configuration Management (SCM) category and a strong performer in the Software Configuration and Change Management (SCCM) category. Subversion is released under the Apache License, making it free software. For more information, please visit:
